As Business Development Manager, you’ll focus on building relationships with Havas’ integrated teams, lapsed clients and new prospects across targeted verticals. This isn’t a traditional sales role, and the right candidate will be someone with a consultancy-driven and intelligent approach to developing business opportunities.
This role will work closely with Conran Design New York’s Associate Managing Partner and the Group Business Development Director to support the development and execution of the new business strategy, and position the agency as the preferred partner for prospective clients. This involves all areas of business development – inbound and outbound, marketing and events, and a small percentage of time on organic growth.
Main duties of role:
- Actively identify individuals and companies within targeted sectors.
- Embrace and champion all of Conran Design Group’s capabilities: research, strategy, branding, naming, verbal identity, design, packaging, 3D environments, digital and motion.
- Ensure all correspondence, materials, presentations and proposals shared with prospective and existing clients are error-free, of the highest quality, aligned with the client’s business challenges, and reflective of Conran Design Group’s approach to design and branding.
- Communicate findings, insights and recommendations clearly and effectively in writing, discussions and presentations.
- Understand the critical nature of and oversee the back up and archiving of key client deliverables, credentials and case studies.
Client relationships
- Generate fresh ideas to support our growth plan and identify key senior prospects across agreed verticals, recent clients and Havas agencies.
- Partner with Conran Design New York’s Associate Managing Partner and the Group Business Development Director to activate and execute against custom reactivation plans for lapsed clients.
Business development & marketing
- Work with the Associate Managing Partner, Group Business Development Director and global marketing team to develop outreach strategies, marketing programs, events, speaking engagements and other initiatives.
- Tailor a compelling and relevant offering to drive new proposals and successfully close targeted new business pitches.
- Build relationships with key prospects.
Strategic & innovative thinking
- Partner with New York’s Associate Managing Partner and Group Business Development Director to identify verticals and lapsed clients that give the best opportunity to cultivate relationships that lead to new business.
- Partner with New York’s Associate Managing Partner to identify Havas teams that are most strategically aligned to agreed outbound strategy. Cultivate those team relationships, identify business opportunities, and close agreed target business within those teams.
- Research, analyze and develop a deep understanding of prospective client needs, business challenges and culture.
Project management
- Regularly update new business tracking to ensure accurate reporting.
- Manage business development data, ensuring that everything is correctly filed and regularly updated.
- Support pitch teams as they develop responses to opportunities (RFI, RFP, proposals, pitch decks).
- Build strong relationships with the regional and global new business community within Havas.
- Manage all global requests for information, surveys and contributions.
- Contribute to the development of new and existing business development tools, such as case studies and testimonials.
- Work alongside the New York Associate Managing Partner and global marketing team to manage regional PR and comms.
- Contribute to the creation of monthly, quarterly and/or annual plans that include performance and revenue targets and metrics.
Relevant experience:
- Four to six years’ experience in a branding, design or advertising agency.
- Business development experience gained within a marketing services agency and a grounding in client services training would be advantageous.
- Good working knowledge of key branding disciplines including brand, corporate identity, 3D environments, digital and innovation.
- Excellent knowledge of PowerPoint, Keynote and other presentation formats.
